Re: Speer Gold Dot 150 BLK

On my 16” R700 the 150GDHP 300BLK was my most accurate supersonic load. Even more so than the 125TMK, 110 Vmax and 110 Tac-TX. I just came back from the range setting up my new 12.5” 1:8 twist custom Bartlein barreled Defiance which is my R700 replacement and it’s still is the most accurate load. On...

Re: Subsonic Load Development

I absolutely love N105 with my new Defiance anTI 12.5" bolt gun. It's quickly becoming my favorite bolt gun powder for heavy subs as I'm getting better accuracy and velocity spread than Tinstar. My 2 baseline loads are: 208 Amax: 2.25 coal - 7.3 N105 - 1035 FPS SD 3.8 (7 shot group) 190 SubX: 2...

Re: Replicating the Barnes 110 gr. VOR-TX 300 Blackout Factory Load

My I broke my magnetospeed strap before I could chrono my 110 Tac-Tx but I was at 2315 fps with 110 Vmax @ 20.2 H110 2.14 oal, I'd assume it's pretty close with the Barnes.

Re: Replicating the Barnes 110 gr. VOR-TX 300 Blackout Factory Load

Depends on your shooting style and what you are trying to do, A bolt action with an AICS pattern magazine can be loaded to around 2.500". The Barnes jams around 2.410" if I remember right and leaves plenty of bullet in the neck by some peoples standards. Don't be afraid to experiment. htt...

Re: Replicating the Barnes 110 gr. VOR-TX 300 Blackout Factory Load

What would be a good CBTO/COAL starting length for the 110 Tac-Tx for a bolt action ? Seems like most start at 2.250 ? How much is too much ?

Re: Scope Recticle

Get a good scope with good turrets. Screw BDC reticles. Look at the new Athlon 1-10.

I used a VX6HD 1-6 with mil turrets. Shot a coyote in the neck at 125yrds. Used 2.5 mil of elevation to get there with Hornady 190 SubX. I just use a dope disk in my scope cover.

Re: Subsonic desintegrating bullets

Whatever bullet choice you decide, I highly suggest you to import through reloadinginternational.com - they have Barnes, Hornady, LeHigh, etc.

I’d go with a frangible low weight in the 80-120gr range with trailboss powder. Maybe even run them at 800-900fps.

Re: Barnes 110gr vs 120gr Vor-TX

Wasn’t too impressed this fall with the 150 Gold dots (although they were very accurate). Thinking of going back to the Barnes. What’s the new consensus for rolling your own - 110 or 120 ? It’ll be for a bolt gun so I can load the 120 longer than saami

Re: Hornady 190 gr Sub-X load data

I really wasn't impressed with the 190 SubX on game this hunting season. I'm even considering going back to LeHigh 194s. Maybe it was a fluke or maybe they don't do as well sub 980 FPS as opposed to the LeHigh who are good down to 800FPS.

Re: A1680 and 230gn HPBT SMK issue!

As a reference, I use the 240 SMKs a lot on my AR, but the 240 is actually shorter than the 230 (1.59 vs 1.71") . I also use the Hornady 225 ELD-M/220 ELD-X which are also fairly long at 1.65/1.63") - No problems at all using VV N120 which is fairly close to A1680 abeit, more cleaner and q...
