Yes, the sabot separates from the projectile as soon as they leave the barrel, just like a shotgun wad.

I tested high at 29 after reloading for a year, and I believe it was from inhaling dust from the media when dumping/separating. I never ate or licked my fingers during reloading and always washed my hands afterwards. I started doing the dump outside and levels have declined 5 points per year. WOW, ...

I have never gotten any kind of tarnish, but the first time I used the tumbler I made the mistake of putting the brass in a ziploc bag thinking it was completely dry.
