Why? I'm not a Savage hater but that would be going back words IMHO.Netpackrat wrote:I have one in 7.62x39, and if I had it to do again I would get a Savage instead.2bad4u2 wrote:I think the upcoming CZ introduction is an interesting option and likely well worth the money. Based on what you've listed for bullets, I don't see how you're going to do anything but poke holes in an animal as small as a red fox. I can't see how you'd have any kind of reliable expansion of the bullet do to the lack of dense bone or muscle tissue. The A-Max likely has the best chance with it'...

I have (2) custom bolt rifles. One built on a 700 and the other a Howa 1500. To get reliable feeding on the 700 (though not with all bullets), I had to swap out the .223 Rem. magazine/follower for a .17 Rem Fireball unit. I've never had an issue with the Howa and it'll feed anything I put into it. I...

Good job. It's great you found a decent load on your first time out. A couple tenths adjustment in powder charge may fine tune it in all together. Sounds like load development is basically done. Now, go out and shoot the crap out of it. lol. Try multiple 5-shot groups and let us know how it goes. I ...

Re: Has remington come up with a fix for the ejection issues
If you don't want to modify the bolt for a Sako extractor, maybe you could use the one Remington uses for .17 Rem. FB based rifles. Do you know the part #? Sorry, no I don't. I do know they are distinctly different. I built my 700 around a .17FB SPS Varmint I bought and compared the bolt face to my...

Choate may still make a side folder that would be ideal for such a project. Or how about a LSS chassis stock with side folder or your usual telescoping AR carbine stock?

Why not use powder graphite as a lubricant? I've heard first hand from Canadian Forces guys who use this in the Arctic on C7 (M-16) rifles. It's light weight and you doesn't freeze obviously.
