Re: ruger percision rifle

That looks pretty acceptable to me. I am going to try and sell my remington and hopefully find one of these right after. Was thinking about the 6.5 but I'll probably just stick with .308 for now. How is the barrel held in place? The barrel is screwed into the receiver and secured with a barrel nut....

Re: ruger percision rifle

Sniper's Hide just customized one. It shoots 1 hole at 100 yard. The barrel is customized for Hornady A-max. It sounded like barrel and rail were the biggest help needed for more precision. Still a heck of a deal in its stock form. The factory barrel can be pretty good though: Factory barrel 6.5 CM...

Re: ruger percision rifle

That looks great! I am not looking for another starter rifle but I think this is above that anyhow. Do you handload or shoot the Hornady factory stuff? What mags are you using? Yeah, starter rifle isn't really a good term. Ithink its a top notch factory rifle with a ton of features. Its no a full o...

Re: ruger percision rifle

I have a Ruger Precision Rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor. It's a sweet rifle. Very accurate, comfortable to shoot. The stock is great, locks up solid and is very adjustable. The only thing I have changed is the pistol grip and the bolt handle knob (I needed a longer, skinnier one to clear my scope magnificat...

Re: Thinking about a first time .308 build. Any advice like dos and don'ts appreciated.

Another tip... If you are building, buy the parts kit and various small parts from the company that makes the upper/lower. Within the "DPMS" pseudo-standard, there are still differences. For example, the take-down pins are different. There is a half-moon type takedown pin head and a full p...

Re: Thinking about a first time .308 build. Any advice like dos and don'ts appreciated.

Whatever you do, if you build, buy a really good adjustable gas block. I would recommend the SLR Rifleworks Sentry series block. A lot of the 308 barrels will come with larger gas ports that will cause the gun to run over gassed. This will cause failure to extracts (bolt moving too fast and too earl...

Re: Want opinions on hearing protection...

I own custom plugs. I always forget to find and use them. I generally go with plugs (not foam ones) under whatever the best regular muffs are - ideally electronic. Same here. My custom ones are never around. I like plugs with electronic muffs because you can turn up the volume and still hear what i...

Re: "Gun silencer sales are booming" CNN article

A local news station ran that article. The comments were funny. One person thought that owning a silencer in VA was considered pre-meditated murder. A laughable concept as if you were to go that route, just owning a gun would be easier to be considered a pre-meditated something-or-other that a muzzl...

You know, those assholes at SilCo, Gemtech, AAC, Griffin, KAC, etc. that all recommend and some include Rocksett with all their silencer mounts. LOL
