New. Bigger hole. Heavier bullet. More smack. Not much recoil. Boy, I’ll tell ya, it’ll hammer ‘em hogs. All shot from a semiauto with the dainty dimensions and featherweight of an AR10. But, what the hell? Gotta have a new project periodically.

Re: Most accurate coated lead subsonic bullet you’ve seen

I I bought 500 rds of 215 gr Mizzou bullets. Loaded at 2.040”, expander used on necks, no shaving or compression when I pulled some bullets to check. Terrible accuracy with Red Dot, barely acceptable with 9.0 gr IMR 4227 at +/- 3 MOA, MV is 1020. Going to try some more loads with the 225 gr ELD I ha...

Most accurate coated lead subsonic bullet you’ve seen

I’ve mostly plinked with the subs I’ve loaded over the 10 yrs or so I’ve had 300 BLK rifles. I’m going to load 250-500 subs for my RARR, and I want to go for accuracy. I’ve been impressed with accuracy in 110 gr supers loaded over ~20.0 gr H110, whether VMAXs, Barnes or Nosler Varmageddons. IIRC, su...

Re: Why do you like the 300BLK?

I still don’t like looking at ARs, preferring wood and steel rifles, but I sure do enjoy shooting them.

Re: Why do you like the 300BLK?

I like it and got into it because it was much better than a 9mm PCC, and it doubled as an intermediate rifle. And it was less money to build than a pistol caliber AR. But I ended up doing all of my “serious” shooting with supers, and just plinking with subsonics as a giggle-gun. Banging steel at 280...

Re: Replicating the Barnes 110 gr. VOR-TX 300 Blackout Factory Load

I ...wondering if your best powder charge for accuracy with that 110 grain TAC-TX would be also the most accurate for other 110 grain bullets, like the VMAX. It sounds like there are many more variables at play. IME, with this powder and these 3 different 110 gr pills in BLK, it’s either the same ch...

Same powder charge of 20.0 gr H110 yielded comparable groups for me with 110 VMAX vs 110 Nosler Varmageddon.

Re: CMC Drop In Trigger Issues

About a year or so ago, I had a new CMC trigger start failing to reset pretty early. I tried hosing it vigorously with lighter fluid but that didn’t fix it. I called CMC and sent it back and they had quick turnaround. They were very good to deal with. I have 3-4 CMCs and haven’t had that happen befo...

Re: Replicating the Barnes 110 gr. VOR-TX 300 Blackout Factory Load

I’ve found it to be pretty common that my loads are more accurate than factory ammo, which is fortunate. Part of that is obviously the result of testing for the loads that work best and loading those, and part of it is that seems to be that a lot of factory ammo is marginal. I’ve not yet found a fac...

What loads does that rifle shoot better, and how good were they?
